More People Abandon Newspapers

The latest numbers from the Audit Bureau of Circulations show that newspaper circulation continues to decline, and decline big time.

In fact, the only real good news for the newspaper industry is the fact that it didn’t decline as much in this measurement period as it did the period before that.  In the six month period ending March 31, newspaper circulation dropped 8.7 percent compared with the same period a year before that.  In the April through September period of last year, circulation dropped 10.6 percent from a year prior.

The newspaper industry is dying a slow painful death.  It’s a shame that so many of them continue to focus on trying to increase their print circulation, which is a losing battle, instead of doing a better job of promoting their websites and maximizing the revenue from them.
